Velladriane, The Illusionist Fairy
SHE was wonderful and yet dangerous. She was small though she had great magical powers. Velladriane was a worthy representative of the Fairy race. Few people could resist her strong charm and sensuality. She was a rather cheerful person, flying everywhere in Ganareth to meet the different races that live there.
Allousius and Velladriane met many times for several reasons before they became very close friends. Both were extraordinarily beautiful, and this of course created tensions when they first met. But with time, their mutual admiration with one another soon increased.Velladriane was impressed at Allousius’ skills when he taught her the basics of what he knew. She learned how to see the invisible, and discovered many things she never would have thought of. Every time they met, Velladriane learnt new illusions and she,in time, taught Allousius how to make them more efficient.
Through out her journeys, Velladriane used illusionism more and more against the dangers she had to face in order to preserve the people of Ganareth. The Orcs, who were once lead by the dragons, had begun to act more like rogue armies since the leadership of dragons had faded away. They are more often than not, a source of many troubles among the people of Ganareth.
One night, when she was flying towards Al Drifa, that she saw a dozen Orcs hidden in a pit near a road. They were obviously waiting for the merchant convoy she had encountered a few minutes earlier. These travelers were riding magnificent dodos and certainly did not expect an ambush. Velladriane stopped in the middle of the road to draw the attention of the band of Orcs. When she heard them grunt and growl, she soared into the air with majesty and started a sort of ballet while singing a lyrical poem in a very low voice. The Orcs then witnessed the Fairy grow in size until she was a big as a dragon. The Orcs felt fear grow within them, but they remained steady, clutching at their weapons, ready to fight. Velladriane was entirely focused on what she was doing, and she started to flap her wings faster. Some of the Orcs dropped their weapons on the floor and stepped away from them as if they were disgusting and frightening animals. The others started to fight among themselves in order to take their friends’ weapons. When the travelers eventually came, they saw Velladriane flying above a dozen dead Orcs. They had heard the battle cries from far away, and they soon realized what had happened. But just how it happened remained a mystery for a long time...
Dériàn, the richest among the travelers, put forward a proposition for Velladriane to be her bodyguard, but she turned down the offer. She would soon have to teach many disciples, as darker times were approaching. Dériàn then gave her a beautiful tiara in remembrance of their encounter. It was a silver tiara and its elegance made her think of ancient Elven art. Velladriane wore it from that moment on, and it even became symbolic. A symbol which her disciples also wore from then on.
