Leyfea, the Half-Elf Enchanter
(By Pildor, Gnome, Bard, renowned for his outstanding fairness).
(Taken from his own works).
Half-Elves aren’t the most enjoyable people: self-satisfaction, often encountered in Human populations, may sometimes mix with High-Elf presumptuousness and give the strangest results. To cut a long story short, this cocktail sometimes gives birth to people whose modesty isn’t their best quality.
Leyfea was that kind of girl: on ordinary days, she had the foul temper of a wild sow; needless to describe the days when she was in a bad mood. The thing is, nature had given her the build of Humans and the grace of Elves: morally speaking, she was a pest but physically speaking, she looked awesome. As you can expect either Half-Elves or anything else, beautiful people, girls in particular are doomed to have a foul temper in order to get rid of the many suitors who wish to know the sign they are born under or if their parents allow them to go back home late at night. However, Leyfea’s temper didn’t seem to repel those who hoped for "just a little stroll and maybe more": you could always find someone who believed that if she was so harsh, it was because she hadn’t met him yet...
The young Half-Elf soon had to use tricks to get rid of them. At first, she tamed an owl in order to scare nocturnal visitors away (a very efficient hooting, so I’ve heard), as well as an eagle for diurnal visitors (silent, but as efficient as the owl). Then she realized she could actually enter the mind of her animals... Soon after that, people could see hordes of (very thorny) bushes chasing some terrified lovers, magpies diving on to cheap seducers, squirrels throwing hazelnuts at salacious voyeurs... Then came Alenaek.
The Immortal Alenaek smiled at the army that was facing him and with a single thought, he turned them into peaceful and loving animals. He entered the clearing accompanied by a horde of wild sows in love. (The lower end of his robe was somewhat dirty after that, but you get what you deserve.) Leyfea was awestruck by what she saw and wanted to learn everything. Alenaek happily began to teach her: strangely enough, there are some disciples you can become very patient with. Leyfea never yielded to his advances but she managed to get from him almost everything he knew: probably another of her charms!
By the time Alenaek left, though somewhat disgruntled, the disciple was almost as strong as the master. She later had the opportunity to prove it in the Northern Wars, raising an army of a thousand wolves with one single thought, in order to attack the band of Trolls who were roaming around the ancient underground city of Lazaria, the gates of which have been lost since then. Nobody, in our present time, would be able to master such a power. But it is said that some of Leyfea’s magical items are hidden in different places. In any case, we know that one day she had walked on the road that bears her name today. But this is a long road...
Some say that Elliak, on his quest to support the Light side, ventured into hostile territory in order to find some of her most precious relics which he intended to use in order to develop his own art. But he didn’t find everything, far from it in fact.
Inquisitive people may want to know what happened to Leyfea. After she turned down armies of handsome blokes, including the greatest enchanter of all time, she eventually married a Half-Troll by the name of Hoglalha, whose face resembled a forest mushroom that had the detrimental notion in growing on a busy express road.
Girls are sometimes twisted.
