Hel

The seventh of Gothar’s sons, Hel is certainly one of the Gods who displays his power in the most obvious ways. Even though he is born of Gothar’s strength, the master of lightning, Hel does not know any master. He is independent and proud. Although he is faithful to his friends, he gives them no influence upon his actions.

We know few things about his original people, the Korrigans. These flying beings were the embodiment of the God’s claims for the sky. But Freïa, sinister child born from Agnar and Malecta reaped all the God’s children even before the end of genesis.

In the dark ages, Hel never asked for his brothers’ help and faced Dragoon’s armies with his power and his daughter, Plaaceb, mother of spirits. For a long time, Hel believed that he was as powerful as he thought for the power that he unleashed upon his enemy burnt into ashes. But dragons were too many and they learned to adapt to their enemy. When they set a foot on the seventh kingdom, the mother of spirit was unable to oppose but only a weak resistance emerged. But this war gave the God of thunder an unexpected support when Gothar granted the races with the freedom of religion, many High-Elves chose to join the cult of Hel and gave the most powerful son of the God of Gods, splendor and glory.

Since that time, Hel shines in the skies in the constellation of the thunder hammer from where he leads his faithful on the hard path of people who regard themselves as their own masters.

Clergy:

Hel’s clergy is somewhat affected by its protector God’s principles. Most orders are relatively small since there is always a time when members get into conflict and deny their commander’s authority. These inner quarrels are often the source of new independent cells which eventually experience the same problems. However, this does not sound like a problem to most influent members. The absence of priests within the cult is regarded as a teaching from the God which makes people grow strong against every kind of authority and even against the cult. There is no cleric or druid in the religion because Hel does not want his faithful to put their lives in the hands of anyone, under no circumstances. Those who follow the path of thunder are responsible for their choices, they are their own masters and they stand united under the banner of a God made in their image.

However, it is important to point out that there is a temple of Hel. This is because the faithful shows an esprit-de-corps that goes beyond their temporary quarrels when it is time to stand united to defend the name of their God.

Dogma:

Hel’s worshipers are their own masters and the only people liable to their actions, choices and ways. Strength, both physical and mental, is the cult’s main value. To hell with the fearful and honeyed voices of those who hide behind words!

Words are the traces of past, present and future actions. These actions are the expression of someone’s will. Here is the simple, obvious and honest truth of the God of thunder.

Betrayal and diplomacy, although sometimes encountered among the faithful, remain as exceptional. People prefer solving their problems openly and face to face than using weapons for stating their disapproval.

Major ceremonies:

Every weak, Hel’s worshipers have to make an offering in order to prove their strength and faith. This offering is quite often a powerful creature and quite dangerous for the persons. Once a year, at irregular times, some cells and individuals unite for a great hunt in order to offer their God the most powerful creature that they can find. Of course, a Dragon is often the target of such a ceremony but these creatures are now so rare that these groups just aim at the greatest slaughter most of time.

Hel’s number is Seven and he is represented by an hexagon with a dot in its center.
