Divine Factions

What is that ?

In Ganareth’s sky, you can see 9 particular constellations each corresponding to a specific God. Each God has a specific relationship to a kingdom, to races and classes.

During a year, each constellation will in turn dominate the others. The dominant constellation is combined with the kingdom’s faction in order to determine the success rating of a craft recipe.

Take advantage of them

Your race sets your initial faction but each character has to choose his God during his training at level 20 just after having chosen his class. Some have a large choice and other have no choice!

The power of the link between a character and a specific God is called divine faction. It can be positive if the God appreciates your actions and be negative if he dislikes you.

The sum of all your divine factions is always equal to zero. Each of your character’s actions modifies at least two of your divine factions in order to keep this global balanced.

If an action such as "killing a creature linked to a specific God" or "making an offering in a temple" raises your divine faction towards one or several Gods, it will also decrease your divine faction with the opposite God(s).

On the back of the mini map you will find a medal adorned with the 9 symbols of the Gods, thus allowing you to be aware of your divine faction level towards a specific God at any moment.

Why can you use them?

Your relationships with the Gods are important and have direct consequences on the game:

  • Creatures linked to a specific God who does not like you, (negative divine faction) will be more aggressive towards you whereas creatures linked to a God who likes you, (positive divine faction) will ignore you.
  • Some quests will only be available if you have a high enough divine faction for the related God.
  • Sellers can give you a better price on items if your divine faction is good enough for him.
  • If an opponent of a higher level attacks you and your divine faction for your chosen God is high enough, your God may intervene to protect you.
