Crafting Experience: CXP
In Dark and Light, item creation is accessible for all players at any time. This axis is totally independent of the fighting axis. Becoming specialized in a job will have no influence on the player’s progression in his/her class, except for the time taken.
The crafter’s ranks.
The qualitative level of the crafter is given by his/her rank, which is a reflection of his/her abilities for the job and of the finish quality of his/her work. The levels are:
- Novice
- Apprentice
- Companion
- Master
- Grand Master of the 3rd circle
- Grand Master of the 2nd circle
- Grand Master of the 1st circle
To gain a new rank, the crafter must master a given number of recipes. To master a recipe, the crafter must have enough training points in it so that it is leveled as easy (green) for him/her.
The jobs’ skills.
The earned CXP points will be used for the crafter job’s skills that affect many things.
Every job has a given number of competences that are specific to a category of recipes. They improve the chances of succeeding, the speed of production, the quantity of raw material needed and the quality of the result of these recipes.
Other skills are also linked to CXP. They are more generic but just as important, and are used for the research and extraction of raw natural resources, as well as the recovery of the ingredients found on mobs.
How does one become a crafter?
Practice makes perfect! To develop your crafting abilities, nothing is as good as practice. A player who wants to learn how to make items will have to get all the item recipes and the necessary ingredients to fabricate them.
There are 5 jobs in Dark and Light:
- The tanner: fabricates leather armor
- The tailor: fabricates cloth armor
- The armorer: fabricates the chain mail and plate armor
- The blacksmith: fabricates hand-to-hand and distance weapons
- The jeweler: fabricates jewels and jewelry and bracelets.
The crafter can be specialized in one or more of these jobs. The only thing that limits him/her is the number of points that he/she has to allocate. Therefore, he/she will have to choose between being specialized in a job or being versatile but inevitably less effective.
