Dark Elf

Harbour meeting

An ill-famed tavern in Al-Drifa harbor, End of Desol, on the 1st of Nar’Pring 8879.

"Eh? Yeah I’m a Dark Elf, so what? Speak louder, your knees make so much noise I can’t hear you! Interested? You think you’re at the zoo, lil’ man? And what can a weed like yourself find interesting in us? What? Everything? But do you at least know something? No? I knew it! Here, sit there in front of me and buy me a drink, you seem to have some Goths to spend. Come on! Don’t keep me waiting, I’m in a good mood...for once. Look at this, seems everybody has left, I don’t even know where. Waiter! Waiter! Where’s he gone too? Okay so I’ll have a meal and a pint. And don’t take the fat off the bacon, that’s what I like most. What about you, what will you have? Ok. And a glass of water for the lil’ guy over there. Mind if I talk when I’m eating?

Alright, so we are Dark Elves but some of us didn’t mean to be. The others banished us when they realized we were playing with the dead stuff like that. So my people went to hide in caves and that’s how we turned black: there were lots of crystals that gave us light, now we call them Moon Crystals. They gave us a bit of light in this darkness, enough for us to adapt. And magic was easier to use when near the crystals. Now, we figured out why.

We still were part of the Alliance because we didn’t really like those dragons flying everywhere. And it gave Vuuar some time to work on the crystals. Believe me if you want, we had realized something: all the crystals in our cave were Dark! That’s why they really got deep into us. And in the meantime, the Immortals came, and they picked seven of our guys as disciples. Seven, do you even realize? Shakaar the Dark Knight, Oshyir the Monk, Nékresis the Necromancer, Allouisus the Illusionist, Jezaraël the Thief, Alzéria the Amazon and Skaarelius the Sorcerer, and they taught us everything they knew. You have to admit, when you learn such things, it alters the way you see the world, lil’ man. I bet you can imagine that. So obviously, Calder loses his folk to Agnar and Malecta. Some even completely turn away from our god, especially those who learn necromancy or sorcery. Some even wonder if we’re still the same people.

Anyway, we’ll see what is left when the war’s over, and I guess we’ll have problems with some other guys, besides the dragons. I got to go, somebody’s waiting for me, lil’ man. You happy? What? My name? Name’s Morlach, but don’t spread it about!

Hey, lil’ man? He fainted? Why do I only come across people who have nothing in their veins, I wonder..."

Way of life:

Dark Elves were forced to hide in caves after being banished by Wood Elves for supporting a destructive form of magic, an opposition to Elven principles of life. This secluded life had an impact on their bodies and turned their skin to the color of dark night: a natural adaptation for a people who were forced to live in perpetual semi-obscurity.

Dark Elves hate Wood Elves for what they forced upon them, but they hate High Elves even more since they supported another form of magic, a constructive one, but were never banished for this. High Elves and Dark Elves were faced, once again, when starting to gather crystals. Each of these people chose an opposite way: Dark Elves would use Dark crystals only, and High Elves would use Light crystals only. This choice is the moment when both races became different, from then on permanently so.

Protecting divinity:

Calder

Divine factions:

Every inhabitant of Ganareth, either Dark or Light, owns a way of thinking, of seeing the world, that comes from the race. When someone chooses to follow an Immortal’s teachings, it alters the follower’s perception of things, sometimes very slightly, sometimes with such an impact that the protecting god is completely estranged. The follower may then worship another god.
