Wood Elf

Crows and Scavengers

A battlefield at the edge of the kingdom of Zephir, about Nar’Calomer 8846

  • "What are they still doing on the battlefield?"
  • "Who? Those Elves over there?"
  • "Yep."
  • "Wood Elves. They’re getting their arrows back."
  • "You’re kidding me!? That far from the front-line?"
  • "Sorry to disappoint you, but I’m not kidding. Their bows are among the best. They can see and hit their target from a very great distance."
  • "And are they all that skilled? I thought Wood Elves were all about root brews, apple juice and the like!"
  • "Depends how you look at it. No, they’re not all archers. Almost three quarters of the Immortals have disciples from their kind, and I guarantee their mages are as powerful as their archers are accurate. Here, move that body over there, I think it landed on something nice."
  • "That’s a find sword you found! And a fine shield that goes with it! So, about your Elves, what can they do, I mean, besides playing with a bow?"
  • "Many things, believe me: Vahalken the Ranger, Oshyir the Monk, Allousius the Illusionist, Jezaraël the Thief, Guerhoan the Cleric, Ellianor the Druid, Circéliane the Bard, Arkorak the Warrior, Alzéria the Amazon and Skaarelius the Sorcerer taught them everything... Hey! I already told you not to pull like that when you want to extract a javelin, all you’ll do is break it if you do that!"
  • "Yeah, right, I do what I can. Blast it, that ain’t my fault if that Troll is as heavy as a forge’s bellows! Couldn’t these feathered guys give us a hand?"
  • "Stop moaning and look: they’re dancing to thank Zephir. Now I better understand why they joined us for battle."
  • "I thought they loved Neutra ’cause that allowed them to put their asses in a safe forest place! And that’s where their colour comes from, some say..."
  • "Fewer and fewer people worship her: I know many say they worship Ysatis, Zephir, Hydra even. The Immortals didn’t bring us only good things, their methods bring conflict within our people, and this isn’t good for us at all. I believe we won’t hear anymore about the Elves soon: when the war’s over, they’ll all be happy to resume their own conflicts. And Wood Elves aren’t the nicest among them: they banished the adepts of destructive magic, and they barely tolerate the adepts of positive magic. Good thing Sylvandiel is there to brighten up the scene."
  • "Man, that sucks..."
  • "Well, I’m not exactly giving an accurate picture either. Generally speaking, these are peaceful people, despites a few fanatics, like in every other race. They don’t appreciate people who don’t follow the way they have chosen. But if you meet some of them in a tavern, you might find one that’s charming."
  • "Oh yeah? Well, I still don’t like Elves!"

Way of life:

With time, Wood Elves developed strong bonds with nature, leading them to build houses and towns in symbiosis with nature, under the rule of Neutra. Over the centuries, this synergy slowly altered the colour of their skin to green and brown tones. This has given them a very efficient camouflage in the deep forests they hold sodear.

Divine factions:

Every inhabitant of Ganareth, either Dark or Light, owns a way of thinking, of seeing the world, that comes from the race. When someone chooses to follow an Immortals teachings, it alters the follower’s perception of things, sometimes very slightly, sometimes with such an impact that the protecting god is completely estranged. The follower may then worship another god.
