Will the final version of this game be free?

I bet most of the people here can't afford monthly fees. It would be great if it was free, like planetsift

If this game is free, IT WILL RULE ALL OTHER GAMES. IT WILL PWN AC2 AND KILL EQ. No really, it will. Those games make you pay money. Imagine, thousands and thousands of people likeing your game because its free!

Hey, Americas Army: Operations is free, and damn, over 56 THOUSAND have downloaded it!

EDIT:
No advertising.

Oh yeah:

Do we need to be 18 or older to play the beta or the full game (when its out)?
Sucks that Earth&Beyond was like that.

If this game will be free, who will pay for servers ? Who will pay the developers team ?

No really this game can't be free and I think it's good cause stupids 12 years old people won't annoy us. ( I don't say all 12 years old people are stupids)

And Americas Army is a stupid propaganda game only made to make us engage in the US Army.

Almost notthing in life is free, especially if other people put hard work a dedication into something.

But remember, if you ever develope something chances are that you want to be payed for it.

It will not be free. Everyone on the developer team is professional. Professionals do cost money, servers do cost money, connections will cost money. Nearly everything costs money, so will this game also. You shall remember that entertaiment does cost, think it this way. You will work 2 hours in a month and you can play 150-300 hours depending how much you spare your time to the game. It's good rate as you compare going into bar there you have to work those 2 hours just for 20 mins entertaiment.

If you speak french there's a good article on Mondespersistants.com ...
Here's the link : MMORPG Free? (http://www.mondespersistants.com/index.php?s=&page=articles&idart=116)

If you don t speak french then mybe you can use a translator on the net , unfortunately i dont have time to translate , soz ...
Basically they say that there is no way they can be as good as not-free MMORPGs.

20$ ? Hmm usually MMORPG cost around 10-15 $.

Mene

i think that would be the start up cost. the inital payment is usually higher then that of a subscribed payment.

You know 20 a month for the creation of an account and 15 after that.
* note these aren;t real prices but examples.

you can give the money to someone of your family and ask him/her to pay with his/her card.

Or ask half a year of subscription to this game for Xmas, and ask the same for you birthday anniversary.

Now I'm a little confused on the game and payments. Closed beta is monthly pay, or is the question just based on when the game is released to the public?

He's talking about when it goes live, which obviously will cost money as eg0 pointed out.

Kormath,
you can always have your parents cosign a credit card for you, which will be in your name, all they do is "ok" the bank to issue one. They allow that with some credit cards with minors. That's what I did when I first got a CC, I was 16 as well. So try that out, it's also a beneficial factor which helps you build your credit history early on.

Hope to turn 18 before offical release! You can start now by getting a checking account at your bank. I had the same peoblem with paying for EQ but I have people i call "friends" and those "friends" let me pay them for the use of their or their parents credit card.
