Anyone else have an objection to riding dodo birds??

LoL I dont know if I wanna ride DoeDoe birds....make me feel like a knight that couldn't afford a real horse...and in the other hand I would be one SPECIAL knight. but it might not be that bad...doedoes might have benifits...only time will tell

Lol. I'm not crazy about the idea either. Hopefully, they will offer more choices pertaining to what you can purchase as far as mounts go. These Dodo's may have some very distinct advantages that may sway your opinion on this matter. I'll wait and see. I personally want a dragon to get me around. ;)

To answer this i will search my memory of devchat answers .. Devs have said that there will be the possibility to ride dragons and probably use catapults as a mean of transportation .. Dodo isnt the only solution !!1

Yep i did invert colors cos i didnt like much the pinkish color but i really thought the design kicked butt so i tried inverting colors and i was amazed and there you go its now my sig ..

Well I personally think dodo birds would make great mounts, I mean can a horse peck your enemies to death? Or would you trust a dragon when you have been questing for weeks and neither of you has eaten anything? I don't think so! Any ways Think about the advantages! Your pillow lost it's puff? just grab a few feathers from your bird. Hungry for some chow at breakfast just make sure you get a female dodo andcrack open that egg! Although if your hungry for some meat reptiles ussually grow back limbs so for carnivorse a dragon might be better...

lol, i would really like to know how the devs implement Dragon riding.. i mean, dragons can actually fly and spit fire... if that gets in game... then thats prolly the most amazing thing in MMORPG history!

it's nearly impossible to program something like that in... Flying creatures take massive amounts of bandwidth. But if they streamlined it into the movements and made it an instantanous journey or maybe you get on a dragon and tell it how far in which direction to go and it will take X amount of seconds/minutes/hours to get there. Seeing as DnL's landscape will be utterly and obnoxiously gigantic this little addon would help quite a bit.

to my knowledge...Dodo birds were not very big at all...maybe about the size of a chicken...i think that bird is more in the Emu/Ostrich family

Its not very hard to make flying creatures... the hard part is riding them and, indeed, coordinating its flight.

Atleast they are trying to put in some new and interesting animals. True, the dodo's and fat taun-tauns dont make very fierce looking war mounts, but still a step up from horses (I can see those in real life if I want). I think it would be cool if the devs tried to stay away from Tolkien style fauna, ie. orcs, goblins, trolls, dragons etc. AC had some cool things that were new (reed sharks and mattekar were tripedial).

It's true Faeries have wings but I'd still like a DoDo bird of my very own. I'd hug him and squeeze him, take him home and call him George.

They make great pets as long as you house train them. (DoDo poop is difficult to clean off the orcskin rug.)

Well in RL we have 4 cockatiels (like DoDo birds but thankfully much smaller). Their names are Orville, Zeek, Edsil and Penfold. So George seemed like the (il)logical choice for my DoDo bird. That way he'd fit right in with the other pets (assuming he didn't crush them).

DoDo birds need love too you know.

It has been my contention, since I came across this game, that the inclusion of the dodo bird is a tribute by the DEV team to a bird once endemic to their island's shores. Peculiar yes. But if you read on it makes sense.

Thank you sir. You are very lucky to have lived on a such a beautiful island. In my research I have discovered that Reunion Island is quite the European getaway. And for good reason.

As you already know gadom, Reunion Island is very popular with the 'extreme sports' crowd. In an effort by the islands local government to stimulate the economy there, they have switched their emphasis from Import/Export income to Tourism. Thus the activites such as skydiving, hang gliding and parasailing is promoted. Now doesn't that sound familiar? ;)
