Hi, I'm new!
Simple question: Will players use a keyboard to move about or will they click where they want to go and the avatar starts moving?
I only found the dev chat in French and I only speak English and weak German. :( So please don't berate me if it is in there. ;)

i dont think the dev have told us that yet .. As for devchat , the one linked from the darkandlight.com site has a version in english , check again ...
I think its gonna be like PE... u move ur mouse to the direction you want and press W to go forward and S for backward and A and D to strafe left and right... you know like in FPS games.....

I imagine it will be along those lines, simply because its a 3d 2nd or 1st person game, so thats the standard way of controlling such a game.

yeah thats the standard but...
i would prefer this option:
That you can lock the camera nice and high and behind the character so you get a nice view of everything and you can just use your mouse and hotkeys on your computer, in a hunt if i need healing potions and my fingers are on a movement buttons then its tough

There will probably be hotkeys, every game has them, 1 click and you can use your potion immediatly

hmm or 2 clicks, 1 to arm the potion an another to use it :P

but im sayin if one hand is on the mouse and another focused on w,a,s,d then hitting say "f5" for a heal potion will be a pain....a mouse only system for hunting wold be nice
Hopefully it'll be a mouse system for movement. If not you'll see me wandering in every so direction except the one I'm really supposed to be traveling in.

Im pretty sure the hunting system will be mouse-based e.g. click once to move and twice to equip and use items potions etc. And also there will be hotkeys like F1 to use potion in thoose vital times u havnt got enough time to double click on it =)

really hope it's Quake setup. Also the method Tcubed mentioned sounds useful.
No, don't think it's bad that old topics appear. If your in my position with the bug on the forum pages, it's such a nightmare navigating to all those past threads- although I do have a work around which I'm going to try out today.

Set the forum to only display the newest threads... that should help.

Wait a second Delta, its an interesting question :)
Think the best way is to move with the keyboard, a quickbar in the screen with the # keys attached to it, you can have a cursor for the mouse on the screen to select enemys or equip unequip items and weapons or it is possible to look around with the mouse.
Would be nice if you have more options to make something.
But clicking on the ground with the mouse to move would be very awful, have you ever walked about 2 KM in a computergame with clicking at the ground every 1ß-20 meters ? thats horrible :)
Just press a key on the keyboard and you start walking until you press it again, thats much smoother :)

plus as most ppl say about hitting the F keys for potions and things most games now use 1-0 cos it is right near the WSAD config.
plus some games also have an auto run function so you just press a key and you'll carry on til you stop ... or die
