I've been cycling through the screens on dnl.com and I noticed that on almost al of the pics there are a lot of mountains! So I'm guessing maybe 50% of the world will be mountains? I find this to B a bit much, but then again I'm from probably the flattest country there is.
Anybody else have any thoughts on this?

it could be just a scenery thing but meh it looks cool thats all i care about.
Mountains are good, but I'm sure there are open plains and cities as well as areas near waters, they just maybe don't have the pictures yet. B/c look at all the different races there are and as to how many can actually be viewed. So chances are there is a lot more out there than mountains.

Well it's not that I don't like mountains, but I just think epic battles are best fought on flat ground. Mountains can give a good defensive plus because you can shoot/use magic while the other guy is trying to find a way up, this I can use very well offcourse but maybe dwarves who are not so fast won't even get to their target?
Oh and I did see some flatland in the screenshots, but U gotta admit, on most ss there are a lot of mountains.
My lil dwarf man will find his target alright as he inches his way up and down those steep slopes of the mountatins. :)

yeah , plsu if you throw a rock at a dwarf , he ll just roll all the way down like a snowball :P
New event for winters in DnL , dwarf rollin race : the first dwarf who rolls to the bottom wins ...
I dont think it will be a problem Seton ... Also the reason you see plenty of mountains is because even in real life when you look at a scenery , the mountain takes some place because of its height , its hard not to see it from far away. Even if there s a huge vally you still see the mounain in the back so it doesnt mean we wont have wide open areas to fight ...
YEah good point tera, except the part about dwarf rolling, not funny lol
I never considered when truly looking out into scenery, many of the times mountains are of the only focus since they are so emence.

Classic. But by the time they reach the bottom of the mountain they'll be hungover.

I guess the mountians are more impressive than large flat plains, so there will be more pictures of the impressive huge vast mountians than there will be of boring flatland :)

Utrecht??.....f*** I live there- I'm btw planning to create this flying dutchman's guild or somethin' since there are so many dutch people here. Anyway - starting with mointains and ending up with elven mushrooms is.. er... kinda strange.

I like mountains. Should also remember that older places have no mountains. DnL - SoG is a land that was blasted by all sorts of evill stuff. Massive disasters that almost destroyed all civilization. So it makes sense there would be a lot of mountains.
Now if there was a volcano or two you could explore. That would be neat :)

If you study the map you will see that there are lots of areas that are not mountainous. I believe you will find a wide variance of terrain.
