 I was wondering. How do you start a guild? Do you have to be in the beta? I kinda wanted to start one but I didnt know how.

It's actually very easy. You say to yourself, "I am hereby starting a guild called <name>", and you then have yourself a guild :D

As an ex-Dragon Empires follower I am an expert on forming pre-game guilds.

1.Come up with a name e.g. a colourful animal of some sort.
2.Trademark a selling statement that you can stick on all your fansite interviews, recruitment posts and so on. For example "We intend to create a strong and economically prosperous dominion....blah blah".
3.Create a proper structure and dont give all your top ranks away to the first to come. People like to think there is an opportunity to advance - nobody will join the guild if the only rank available is at the bottom of the ladder with all YOUR mates above them....who wants to be a grunt?
4.Get a website set up but more importantly a forum. When guild members start posting on your boards rather than the game's boards you have yourself an exclusive community i.e. the start of a guild.
5.Play along. Pre-game guilds are only fun if you act like a guild rather than a guild in waiting. Make alliances, argue, declare war. Get your members to be the guild when they make posts.
6.Keep people interested - do emblem compos, guild irc chats. Make sure the guild policy is fluid - fool members into thinking their suggestions count. If things start to stagnate then liven it up!

Basically if you want to create a guild for DnL you just have to learn to manipulate your members and have fun while doing it.

Zeifear, if people are making a bit of fun out of your question, it might well be, because there is a sticky thread, most likely answering your question perfectly ;)
In case you're having a hard time finding it:

I have to ask you Zeifear, how did you create that immensly cool signature of yours? Did you make the images yourself?

especialy point 5 was something dema and TRL succeeded in doing :D
heh The White Shadow Alliance between TRL and us (RS) would still have pwned KT and SotM :)

Definately although those events were in the latter days of my reign with the ghost of abdication haunting my every step (yep I was getting old and senile yet nobody noticed....I think).

I prefer to remember the glory days of Demagogue - the age of Mengus Krull's Hoard and Slaine's Circular Alliance.

Seriously Zeifear I would stress a forum over a website - put all the graphics and info on a dedicated board or something. If you arent that great with stuff like that start with something easy like Ezboard (crap with lots of adverts) then eventually, as always, you will recruit a genius who will exchange his skills for titles. Before you know it you will have a domain name, a sparkling website and a powerful forum all created by the Arch-Duke Calego, Lord of the first 100 gold we make ingame and Commander of the Militia's commander's commander.

Could it get any simpler?

I dont know anything about web page building, let alone making a forum. I would otherwise.
