Skartag
03-13-2003, 12:13 AM
The doors of the "Drunken Dwarf" swing open, In wanders a shadowy figure, garbed from head to toe in green and black - "Hail Innkeep - ill take a warm mead", "we dont serve your type in here" retorts the Dwarven innkeeper. "And what sort would that be ?", "Your a halfbreed - Your kind aint welcome here", " So my coin isnt good enough for you eh?". At this point the other patrons are begining to raise from their seats and are heading to the bar - Skartag notes this and backs off, once again he is confronted with the prejudice of a lifetime, for he is a half-orc shunned by all the product of an unlawful attack on his mother after a orc raiding party attacked her village.
He removes himself from the tavern, but this incident only re-enforces his life-quest, to find his father, to find his father who gave him life.........and to seek vengance for his mother, he will not rest until his cold steel draws the last breath from his tormentor.

well theres a little background as to why Skartag fights for the way of Light. :)

After watching this ordeal, concealed in the corner of the tavern, unnoticed, Tojin whispers a few choice words, followed by a wave of his hand; suddenly the opposite corner of the tavern alights with fire. Shunned and abandoned himself, Tojin fights for the side of the dark, because this is the side that has brought him the least amount of pain, and he feels at home in the darkness. Tojin walks out, leaving the flaming bar, feeling quite good about himself, and rejoins the regime that he commands.

Another watcher was hidden in the shadows, Azrial the Paladin. He feels no pity for the barman, as he watches the tavern burn, for justice is the law. Though Tojin and he are on opposite sides, Azrial respects him. Quietly, he leaves the bar and gazes around, looking for Skartag. Finally he spots him, walking the lonesome path of a half orc, shunned by many. Grabbing a piece of meat, well roasted by the burning bar, he chases after Skartag and offers the orc some meat. 'If you will accept, I wish to accompany you on you quest. I am the law, and no man, dwarf or elf shall ever treat you with such disrespect as that dwarven barkeeper did. Hopefully we will gather a band of warriors and mages, all pure of heart, to scour this land of all evils...'

And so begins the tale, for all things must start small, and seemingly insignificant happenings may lead to bigger things, as the caterpillar turns into a butterfly.
