In a guild only for guild leaders? I guess it would kind of be like the NATO of DnL. I was thinking it would be much easier to plan massive attacks if all the leaders could communicate. It would be a small guild with no real hierarchy, I'd be the leader but all id really be in charge of is getting people in it.

Yes, if I was the leader of the leaders.

As long as it doesn't cross alignment boundaries. One for darks and one for lights.

this would only be for lights

I would not be inclined to be involved in such an endeavour - I am not inclined to believe that every guild leader in the game is going to be a positive influence, and I am not convinced that an open invite in this sort of situation will lead to a good environment overall - while in theory you can just shut it off and ignore it if you dont like what is being said, but I believe such a thing is liable to become a crutch where there are better options available. Many leaders would be inclined to say "we already have one of those" if similar concepts with more specific purposes showed up. Communication has its place to be sure, but having it organized through a guild - I just see a lot of potential issues.

I would suggest that the better way to accomplish this would be through a simple chat channel system where there is simply a chat channel for the leaders - be it established by the devs themselves (and I hope they do it automatically for simplicitys sake) or to have it organized by the guild leaders to ensure such a channel is already up.

I acknowledge that we are talking different shades of the same concept, as far as a simple way to communicate - but conceptually having this organized around a guild implies a lot of things that I am not comfortable.

I see where you are coming from, but I think there are better options - if guild leaders wish to approach me with this proposal I would be happy to listen, but I am quite skeptical of anything like this. Anything that is so generalized creates many potential problems.

Additionally, in the case - should such a concept be brought forward there may be those more appropriate to organize such a guild.

The part that appeals to me is having an open line of communication and the ability to get in touch with other guilds that may be looking to accomplish a similar goal. Arqitt raises very good points about problems that could arise and I agree, I don't think having it setup as a guild would work. A chat window would be sufficent, especially if it could be password protected or be invite-only.

Who would decide who gets into the channel and who doesn't? A vote? It would be fairly easy for a group of darks to decide to make a fake clan and eventually gain access into the chat.

Hrmm - good luck with that neo ;)

But yah, Sinc you bring up a very very good point as far as security - that is better than any of the worries I was wondering about.

Yeah infilitration is a major concern. Since you have already begun work (but delayed obviously) on one maybe Pest can help out, since we really aren't going to need two of these. Would create more hassles than help.

I like the idea but it obviously needs work, so if anyone needs help let me know. I'm available from 9:00pm - 9:03pm on Thursday nights. :p

Ummm maybe for each side, but not for both. It will get too crazy.

yeah, would be funny tho.

To the darkies: "ook, all we want you to do is all stand in this crater as close together as possible"

To the lighties: "OMG they're actually falling for it, fireballs away" :D

you lights forge pacts all you want to fight the dark side.
we,the dark ones, dont need such things to conquer your lands and burn your cities!

;)

atleast,I know I will never agree with such big alliance, nor ever bow down to there commands.

zerg ftw is just not my kind of gameplay :/

darkies must die :). But no one would be expected to fight just because some other guilds are. I was just thinking that it would be alot easier to conquer cites and castles if you have more guilds attacking the city instead of just one.

aka zerg ftw :)

dont forget:

If the attacker outnumbers the defenders, the gods might interfere.anti-zerg mechanism part 1

but heh,I have a hard time believing a city defended by 50 would not fall when under siege by 300..even with Divine Intervention
so while the DI system discourages zerging (I bet it just makes the siege last much longer by fortifying the defense, thus an outnumbered siege would last much longer then a balanced siege) it certainly wont prevent it.

arqitt

actually dark that would be a great way to implement DI - if you were to ddo this it would give those being attack a chance to find reinforcements - always a good thing :D

heh - the moment "alliance" shows up you can DEFINATELY take Kel'en out of the mix.

no doubt a counter-zerg zerging :D

About the 'its zeging' arguement, not everyone knows the difference between tactics/logistics and griefing i guess.

Yes.

As leader of the Circle of Illuminated Actors (yes, yes I know "And sole member...") I'd join such an endeavor. All the better to plan our tours. ;)
