In the time before time, after the creation of the races of Ganareth, the Race of trolls were followers of the god Malecta. The trolls blindly followed Malecta and fell for her false claims of being the supreme god. Although there are few who have the knowledge of this era, it is believed by most that they worshipped her for her divine wisdom. The trolls feared that she was far more wise then they, and allowed her to manipulate them for her own purposes.

A small but superior group of trolls were blessed with divine vision, and could see past her veil of deceit and trickery. These trolls, who were led by Hadin var Samurak, relentlessly tried to show their brethren their flawed system of beliefs, but to no avail. Hadin var Samurak, or Hadin the Wise as we have come to call him, then led his clear-minded brothers away from those who were too foolish to open their eyes to the truth.

Hadin and his followers wandered the lands for several years, living off what they found. On the 57th day of the year 1161, Hadin was visited by the all-powerful god Hel. Hel spoke with Hadin, as if he were a mortal, and showed him the truth about the universe and its races. Hel offered Hadin and his followers the gift of eternal life in exchange for their vow of service in his kingdom upon their 150th birthday. All of the followers agreed to this, and Hel bestowed them with his gift. Hel foretold that, should the followers and their descendants remain loyal to him, one day Hel would be reincarnated on Ganareth as a mortal, and a sign would be shown to those still loyal to him that he was with them once more. He told of how they would have to seek him out on the vast world and, upon finding him, He would grant them unimaginable power.

For nearly 8,000 years this group’s offspring have remained loyal to Hel. In the past 50 years there has been plague and famine that has destroyed almost all of this group’s members. Since the plague struck there has only been one offspring who has survived…

“and I am that offspring.”
“I have searched for Hel for nearly 15 years, but I have not found him.” “I bear a birth mark on my back that is in the shape of the Hammer of Thunder, it is his sign, and it foretells that he has returned.” “I am Hadin, son of Hadin, son of Hadin, I am the last of my people, and I search for him still.”
