As i intend to go crafter, i will be following the SXP line and specialising in a trade, hopefully something profitable like armoursmith/weaponsmith (they were pretty profitable in SWG anyway :P )

So, anyway, what are your intentions?

Me:

Race:- Human
Class:- Warrior
Name:- Pave

Some Background Info (RP)
RP Age:- 43
Mother:- Killed for adultery.
Father:- Died fighting the dragoon.
Occupation:- Blacksmith, specialising in swords (subject to change)

A large hulking man stands bearing over the blazing furnace, occasionaly leaning in, to temper the steel for crafting, the light from the flames does nothing to hide his brutish and scarred face, the type of face that comes from growing up, and living in one of the least developed slums found in al-drifa.

He hauls the blazing steel over to his anvil, he begins to hammer on the soon-to-be sword, sending sparks flying everywhere, as the hammering continues, the blade starts to take shape, a fine, elegant looking Scimitar, after shaping the blade, he attatches it to the rope tied handle, and displays it on his large array of weapons, ready for sale in his quaint shop.

As he stands by admiring his wears, his eyes drift the hussle and bustle of the usual commuters, slowly, the crowd parts as a horse and carraige arrives in the cobbled street, it slows to a stop, and out steps a nobley dressed man, he approaches pave with a swagger in his step.

"You must be Pave" he says
"aye, that'd be me" replies Pave
"Well, lets not hold on decencies, your services have been requested, and you have summons to <guild fort> to aid in the manufacturing of weapons and armour fit for the army."

Pave looked around as he saw the crowd disperse and carry on about their normal business, after all, it is not polite to pry into the business of others.

"Whats in it for me?" Pave asked
"You can brand all your own weapons, and if the quality is good enough, then more opportunities will arise" replied the noble
"Well then, what are we waiting for? Just let me get my things.."
"No need" interrupted the noble "all items will be provided, i just ask you to follow me, and we shall set off"

Both the noble and pave set off towards the carraige and leave the city, heading towards Pave's next challenge.... and who knows what else.

So, come on ppl, give some info on your character, and maybe some background info, if thats your thing :)

i probably make weaponsmith, but only if you can craft almost perfect weapons.. if you can loot way better stuff im unsure if i should craft or not (i was as in swg and made +800mil cr in 2 months, so i have sum experience with crafting)

and still no idea about my fighting prof

my chars wont have any rp history...

I intend to craft too, my original thought was to be a Gnome/thief/explorer and do Alchemy but as there is little or no information about anything much its hard to say what I will end up doing.

A lot depends on what will happen to your char when SoG ends and DnL starts, if there is a wipe then there isnt much incentive to develop a char there, just use the time to play all classes and profs to see which one I like the most.

most likely everything wil be wiped, as far as i know SoG plays 1000 years ago DnL... well, i dont think anything can live that long .)

Form the info i've been looking at, the emphasis will be on all weapons being craftable from resources gathered from mines, with resources from creatures, and possibly rare items from larger enemies that require a group to kill.

that along with a complex sounding crafting process which is where the 'skill' and patience will come in. Waiting for the right alignement of the moon, the right resource queality, weather, etc, all sounds like it could make crafting an extremely complex and fun process :)

Unsure whether to go healer or not. I usually make a good healer, its more of a group thing and i hate soloing (although finally exploring will be a reailty!). I was a dwarf cleric in EQ2, so something like that i think, maybe a lutin. If they turn out to be crap, then ill probably go on the monk path.

Err scrub that, i re-read the descriptons. Gnome Monk it looks like for me, although Lutin Bard is also tempting.

Not sure myself, got alot of testing to do once SoG comes out. Im leaning towards sorc, ranger, or theif.

Crafting is very important for me. I've been a Bio-Engineer and a Chef for ages and i hope i can be something similar in DnL :)

I was orginally going for high-elf cleric but noticed that high-elf is light only. I only have had female characters in mmo's but it seems I have to make male char this time(boring) and as I have noticed cleric isnt so good healer after all. Gonna wait until they release information about best darkside healer... so its human/wood-elf - best healerclass

OoooArrrrrr :-)

I didnt know there would be Engineering, I wonder if there will be items like WoW engineers could make. Some unusual profs in that list like Papermaker and pottery, I guess they will make stuff that other profs need.

We shall see, sooner than later I hope.

Either Dark Elf Monk, or some other race monk...And if monk is crap for solo'ing im going to go for something else. Im a solo person...

kreen
11-25-2005, 03:38 PM
Current Plan is my main to be a female Dark Elf Thief (Assassin) called Kreen naturally :)

Since we have 3 slots I also plan to have an enchanter/crafter character, race will be chosen based on the best enchanting/crafting bonuses. The crafter aspect will be weapons/armor based.

My 3rd slot will probably be either a healer/buffer cleric or maybe a light avatar of some description for recon purposes :)

I can't wait, just hope its good :)

Well I WAS going to purely craft and become the richest person in guild but since tranks is going to be crafting in DnL I might as well give up that dream:(

Perhaps ill try something very different instead like warrior oO ive always hidden behind tanks and done the ranged thing but never been the tank.

I am sure I read somewhere that there will be no bank in this game, so quite where we will all put our millions of gold is going to be a problem, especially as it seems that if you get killed in PvP the player who kills you gets a bit of your money. Hopefully it wont be a percentage of what you are carrying.

I guess it will be best to make an alt and give them all your money and never ever go anywhere dangerous with it :-)

Don't worry Aki one thing TDR knows how to do is form a gank squad, I think we'll be doing the killing. :shhh:

lol grr, i think it all depends on how the crafting system works... if it all sux and you have to craft item after item in a long process i (and probably many others too) wont craft alot.

I was thinking Dark Elf Sorc before....but I have been a Dark elf sorce in so many other games that I think I might change in this game.
After I finished my Jedi temp in SWG...(before the dark times..before the Nearly Gay Experience) I quite liked being the tank...standing there while about 8 others attacked me and my group proceeded in whiping them out.

So I think I will be going something a little stronger and less nimble then a Dark Elf.

Maybe Human Shadowknight.
