View Full Version : State of the community

Post what you guys think, seriously.
I'm personally very worried about the community following the game now, as it seems there is a ton of carebear bashing, etc. While this really doesn't matter to me, there just seems to be a lot of PKing extremists that have no problem killing "lowbies" and generally ruining other people's fun. I feel, if you want pvp, it should be on the devs terms, in sieges. That's how war should be in this game, not killing lowbies on the other side. So is this game going to turn into an unsafe, and in my opinion, unfun free for all, with all the high level "wanted" crowd that seems to be springing up? Do you think the devs are really listening to this minority in the community, that just so happen to be shouting (whining) the loudest? I truly hope they are smarter than that, and know that these are just more vocal, and the true majority of players will NOT enjoy an environment wear they will consistently be killed by players who seem to have no real chance of losing the fight and while the "lowbie" player is just trying to play the game their way.
What are your guys' thoughts?

I agree almost completely... there are only a few times when I pvp,
1. official (siege, defend etc.)
2. practice (make friends with a trusted dark guild and meet at a remote local to practice pvp)
3. revenge (if someone ganked me they are going to die)
4. when someone is botting\farming\griefing\pking... (A good hunt is always fun :) )
I don't believe killing without reason is right... If we are officialy at war with a guild, then sure... fight them out of battles IF they start it first. That doesnt mean we don't act prepared...
I too am concerned about the "carebear" haters... They think they are "leet" and can bash anyone they want. To me they are immature and, not surprisingly mostly dark. Thats one of the reasons you find me here on the side of the light, less jerks.

Aye it is true that many PKers and such are now becomming attracted to the game, but I've seen many guilds rules and such and almost all state they will not deal with PKers and some say that they will PK Pkers... I'm sure that after a few months seeing that the majority of the game is roleplayers and such PKers will leave, or simply stop *Hopes*

I really agree with your post. Those are all reasons I would PvP too. Killing without a reason, and/or without any skill involved is just not right. I'd really love to have organized, guild vs guild pvp. I'm glad i came to the light side Kisimir :D

Yep, anyone who was here, even a matter of months ago knows that the community used to be pretty stable and friendly. Then came the psycho bria people from SWG and a few other games like WoW (not to say they are bad games or that all their players are bad, but their forums are downright vicious). Since then it's pretty pointless to go on these forums. I just log on to check dev updates occaisionally.

Yep, I agree... I used to get on here all the time and it was always pretty fun for the most part. Then came some people from WoW who loved to flame... that kinda ruined it alittle but eventually they settled down... then came bria which was annoying but a passing phase... then came the... let's call them the "bears" and this has just gotten out of hand. For a whole week now there has been nothing but bear this, bear that... pk pk gank squish tweek complain repeat. I can't wait to see what the shout\general chat is going to be like in game... arg.
Note: I hate it when I accidently hit edit instead of qoute... having admin rights is wierd.

Ahh I didn't know these were "Bria" attitudes. I never really followed SWG that much, so I don't know much about it. Is Bria famous for just having tons of "lowbie killers"?
Anyway, I think the general chat won't be that bad, because we're on the light side. I truly believe most of the "pwners" will go to the dark side, not knowing that it isn't really the evil side.

Sorry to hot your boards with this thread. I do believe your guild looks interesting, atm I have kind of pre-signed up with another though.
The reason for my post, would you happen to be Pixel that played FFXI with a char called Arakeen, or in WoW with a toon called Adhseidh. If so bro what is up, glad to see ya, if not please forgive my interruption.

SWG players cannot kill lowbies unless:
1. The lowbie agrees to a duel
2. The lowbie himself belonging to a faction declares himself overt at a predestined location (meaning he leaves himself open to PVP which he definitely wouldn't do anyway).
Otherwise, lowbies are safe from everyone, except maybe animal predators.
SWG/WOW/DAoC/whatever are not immune to immature and stupid players. You will find those anywhere, including here, I would guess.
This guild sounds like one I may be interested in joining. I will investigate further.
Good luck to you all!

After a while, the worst offenders or groups of offenders will be known server-wide, if they're spotted and there's a good number of decently levelled cohorts, then I say PK them before they PK you.
