Please forgive me if I've overlooked this information on the site, but do we know if we will have extensive maps available to us?
Also, will we be able to log out and minimize the game if we need to go to desktop, say to check our email, but don't want to actually exit the game? This I would consider a very useful feature for in the game. Of course it shouldn't be availabe in the middle of a battle.

And finally semi-answered.
Yes you can Alt-tab between DnL and like your email-program, at least this is the case for the actual beta client.

I really, really, really hope that the explorers are the ones (if not the only ones) that can make maps and sell them.
It makes only too much sense, and it helps the ever growing economy of the game, as well, if the map making is based off of skill, like crafting, then there is room for error.;)
Thus, it makes for those moments of looking at maps and saying:
"Um....huh...well, I don't know what it is Grabarth...it's not on the map."
"Well hell! I didn't make this thing! It says we should already be there!"
As well, it makes for the oppertunity of more renowned map makers.

tbh they should make it so you can't alt-tab, granted it might irritate some people with IM clients and IRC, but it goes some way to avoiding exploits.

Agreed, while it might get annoying, out of game clients would become nothing.

yah, some even go so far as to program in code that causes the program to crash when you alt-tab

No alt-tabbing? I think the risks don't outweigh the benefits in this case. You know how many people would rather have alt-tab than not? It's staggering. Besides, if someone is going to go that far the exploit or hack, not being able to alt-tab isn't going to hinder them much.

amen, alt-tab is almost a must for any game. Say an Eagles or Sixers game is on, how else can i check my scores online :D

Screw the Alt-Tab banning.
I just recently played an MMORPG that didn't allow that and it drove me absolutely nuts!
If you want to stop people from making online maps, you'll always be wasting your time.
A better way would be to promote the concept of making online maps and rewarding players that do this with in-game explorer perks.
If they don't have an explorer, then they'll just get SXP bonuses for helping out the community.

Preventing alt-tabbing will not prevent exploit programs. A program that involves, say packet-sniffing or macroing could easily be lai=unched before DnL is launched. It could be made so that it leaves a window on top of the DnL screen and therefore can be accessed at any time. Take a look at Decal for AC2. Or, for that matter, ACTool. It didn't even need a screen running on top of AC because it was controlled by command lines. And ACTool works with WoW too. It would be pointless to block alt-tab because it will not stop exploits. Sure, NPCube could put a process sniffer to have DnL detect if a 3rd party app was running and shut down, but then they run into issues of being accused of invasion of privacy.
