After experiencing the first day of SoG, we have come to realize there will have to be some changes to our original plan of the launch of the Avanguarde story, because of the awkward state of the game at this point.

In character, the ship has become damaged and wrecked on the large island North West of the Al-Drifa Kingdom. The crew remains with the ship to guard and repair it, while the refugees of Dusha Ogohn and those who have joined them along the way have spread out across the land with a mission: "Seek a location to settle the refugees."

The reason for this is because we feel the greatest sense of identify we will be able to establish will be a keep/city. The lack of current character customization and the fact that everyone is still learning the game does not contribute to roleplay.

Eohlwyn and I will be playing in character as soon as I have learned the basics, and our first priority is to establish the guild ( i.e create it in the game ).

We feel bad about this, since being in character right from the beginning was very very important to us. The game, however, is simply not in a state that allows it.

Learn the game, establish the guild, discover how to build a keep. ( Or at least discover a common location where we can be. ) Once we have a place to center our roleplay, things will get rolling.

(OOC: )

The first or second day, I could get in - I sort of gave up trying more this week so far, bit to wait the worst beginning rush to clear up a bit - I decided to move and explore a bit, instead of staying at the very crowded starting area.

I had an flight of about one hour south.. using my settlers map as reference. I did try to flight over the area where Al Drifa was supposed to be .. but it was dawn and quite dark, so I probably missed the right area, since I couldn't locate it... I think someone mentioned on the chat about visiting Al Drifa though so probably it is there.

I flew south along the shoreline, trying to find and identify these named and labeled areas on the settlers map. Which I thought could be towns. I did find many towns on my travel, all were unsettled (with no NPC's or any signs of life.. hehe) ... of various styles, wooden buildings, stone buildings, one was sort of a land mass in certain formation showing no buildings on the top (could not be entered, since no caves or underground rooms apparently in game so far?).

The spots marked on the map, seemed to be placeholders either for the forts - or perhaps towns. All were square in shape, so I think the forts could fit on them quite well. All of them were empty, and I'm not exactly sure if they were right at the Settlers' map markers, the map being quite vague. But in the vicinity of each marker I usually found one of these empty squares. As a sidenote I found a lady wandering on one of these squares (a single npc).

Judging from my little journey... all the towns being all empty.. very little points of interest between the towns.. I believe that the time that we can actually settle a town or fort for ourselves... isn't very near.

Until that the in-character activities according to what the game actually provides us, what we could do related to settling the refugees.. would be to explore the surroundings and hunt.

OOC:

Well, I'm VERY disappointed that my PC seems to hardly be able to run SoG. I get an average of 3-5 FPS with the exception of empty areas (and I mean EMPTY) in which I get around 7 FPS. This makes it sooo hard just to do the basic things you need to do in game. *sighs* But I'm not giving up depsite this. It just means that people playing with me MUST have some patience since I have such bad lag. >_< I plan on getting a new PC 'eventually', but for right now this will have to do.

As far as SoG goes, yes I'm disappointed with the lack of character customization among several other factors, but I'm confident that these things will be resolved over time and that SoG will eventually be a great game. I just hope I'm not being too optimistic, but SWG started off badly also, and it was a great game until SOE ruined it.

I concur with most all of what you guys are saying. My first experiences are less than stellar. But I'm just hoping they get enough wrinkles ironed out so that the game is actually playable. Which to me it isn't right now...

Good things were graphics and flying. But the CTD's and lack of MOBs and multiple other things saddens me. Character customization I actually expected to be weak at this point. But granted...SoG right now is very RP unfriendly.

Here's to the future however.
