I hopped up on my elerphunt
An' whacked him on the noggin
He gave a beller an' a grunt
An' started off a joggin'
Head askew, he raised his trunk
An' with his one good eye
He gave a look all full of spunk
That said, "I hopes you die!"
Now elerphunts are cagey beasts
With spitefull little minds
Don't ever trust one in the least
Or trouble you will find
I knowed that he was thinkin'
To rebel against the man
Who rode that poor ol' stinkin'
Elerphunt across the land
From the South I rode that beast
To Northern lands remote
From the West into the East
On trails unfit for goats
I knew all his little tricks
An' his wily ways
So with my boot I gave some kicks
An' turned aside his gaze
Through the blazing heat I ride
Up ahead I sees a tree
He contrives to drift our course aside
So limbs will knock me free
But I weren't born just yesterday
I ducks an' holds the pose
The branches miss me clean away
But, HE'S GOT ME WITH HIS NOSE!
He pulls me off an' throws me down
An' tries to dance upon my head
I twist an' turn an' rolls around
I know he wants me dead
"Ungratefull, mangy pachyderm"
I shout in the ear that still is there
These stupid beasts they never learn
To love my kindly care
I dodge around his blind side
An' gets behind the tree
I'm fearin' I might lose my ride
An' elerphunts ain't free
I thinks to grab his tail
An' climb up on his rump
Alas, my plan is no avail
All that's left there is a stump
A scraggly, gnarled critter
If I weren't mad I think I'd laugh
Why does he act so bitter
When I raised him from a calf
An' now he limps off squeelin'
I'll have to start the hunt
For that beast most unappealin'
...My selfish elerphunt
An' whacked him on the noggin
He gave a beller an' a grunt
An' started off a joggin'
Head askew, he raised his trunk
An' with his one good eye
