Well.. after a tiring few days - I now seem to be able to get in for a reasonable amount of time. Earlier this evening i was struggling with getting booted out every 1-2 minutes.

I noticed on one of the threads about people turning down the graphics in the .ini file. I adjusted them down to 0 as well as set the cinema scope size to 20. Now i seem to be able to last a lot longer in game. Of course it is still crashing - but getting much more game play now.

Overall I am pretty happy with the game. I know that it is still in early stages - but I can see that they are going to be able to improve it as we go along. I think that over the next few months we will see big improvements. You can even see a difference from first launch and now.

I know that some people will get fed up with crashes and delays.. but i hope to hang out and work through it.

Anyway - let me know what you guys and gals think of it so far?

oh, and for those of you unluck enough to not get a key - when they give out the next wave of keys the game should be in much better shape! seeya then!

Well I'll be checking on the game at intervals between now and April (mainly coz I paid the $60) to see what happens, but my honest assessment at this stage is that this game is dead in the water.

Hello all!

Well yes we can see there is a lot of work to be done on the game but that was always to be expected.

For the amount of time that I have been in game I have found the exploring quite exhilarating (sp). The fighting not so inspiring and can't wait till the crafting comes about. The questing I have not been able to figure out !

I don't know if anyone was around for open beta for WoW or the opening week but it was/is quite nostalgic with the lack of spawn and low FPS in starter areas. If things are annoying you now then all I can suggest is go for a long fly and explore or come back in a couple of weeks when the starter areas are so camped.

I had to laugh when I finally got my head around the size of the place. All of those PKers who were being big about killing on sight must be a bit puzzled when isolation will be anyone's best protection. You will be lucky to be found anywhere but in town centres!

I am looking forward to future introduction of content after the intial server, client issues are sorted out.

SoG/DnL has a glitch in the game that lags out us no matter how good your computer is. In wow I can handle around 300 people in 1 area with minor lag when I enter based on how far I set terrain fog. I belive the source of the lag and low fps in this game is because they are trying to do stuff that is not avaliable to this generation of technology, our computers can't handle what they are trying for them to do. I belive if we could drasticly lower the distance which we can see the land the fps will shoot to 50+

From hanging out in the IRC help channels the issue of the memory leak that causes the disconnection issues is still being worked on.

As for teh WoW comment, I was specifically talking about beta and opening day blues with the spawns etc.

I flew up to the top of the continent and had zero problems ....apart from being VERY alone!

yeah the game started off bad for me, i was utterly clueless, running about, trying to find mobs etc, but after spending some time in game now, im really starting to love it. I still am just experimenting with different charachters and classes, but i should come to a final set that i like soon enough :D

You can fly around the outer islands for hours without a crash. But head to Cidd and its a crash a minute.
I'm finding it hard to locate a place to level where there isn't a heap of Darkies farming. I already had several running battles where I've been driven away from spawn areas.

Perhaps we can get together sometime and head over to the mainland. I noticed there appear to be very few darkies on the mainland. Mobs are in the 20 - 30 range (where I explored at least) and I can almost solo them, so with a little help we can take them easily without having to worry about the rampant dark farmers that inhabit the islands.

Anyhow if you need so help give me a yell. I'm more than happy to help ferry people to other places with my dragon.

And for the same reason I fear, that the caravans that go on pre-fixed routes. Will be the spots we will find most of these ruffians. That is bad for business.

But good thing the lack of content, no caravans to worry about. Just some heads to crack.

Good luck to you on the battlefield.

Heh i find it nearly impossible to lvl at all, not because of bugs (maybe ;) or lag but because the lvl1-3 wasps (yes lvl1 -_- mobs) are too hard to kill and gang you and also i must be doing something wrong since my char doesn't seem to like attacking normally (stands there and gets hit with an occasional attack >_<) and using skills doesn't always respond :'(.
BTW my char is a lvl 2 (sniff) light half-elf male called Rhodry.

Well its official. I just deactivated mt click and buy account and emailed them to attempt to get a refund. Will see how it goes.

Best of luck to those who wish to persist with this product, and best of luck to those who decide to go looking for something better in the new crop of MMO's. :)

Sadly this game is going to die. All of the big names are soon to come out before this.

ExtreOxy - i had the same problem at first when i was trying to fight - couldn't work out what was going on.

Then after a while, I realised that i didn't have to actually do anything. I just had to target the enemy and then hit "Q" or "E" once and then it would be automatic attack from then on. At first i was hitting Q many times and i just kept getting killed!

Also after I worked out how to kill things I wondered why i wasn't getting any loot... then i realised that I had to right click and manually retrieve the loot! So I missed out on a bit there!

I am really hoping that with the few days downtime they had a chance to fix up some errors. Lets hope so!

But in any case - we just need to give it a bit more time, lets say a month or so and I think it will be smooth sailing from then on!

As for now - I am happy to get an hour game time and then drop out... that is not that bad (i used to get like 5minutes only! - but with the new dnlg.exe i think it has been improved - also running on enginemode=1 helped alot too)

Even though some people think the game is destined to be doomed, I'm still pretty keen to get in and have a go. I've been playing mmorpg's for 20 years and have witnessed games that started quite poorly and within a few weeks/months became quite special. I think its important to have a low expectation of what your personal perceptions are going to be, even though games are constantly being promoted as the next best thing since sliced bread by the developers. For those who are thinking of leaving, I would suggest maybe come back in a few weeks and see if any further developments have taken place. It would be great to keep our guild alive. :god:

This game was orignaly ment to come out 2 years ago fully finished no bugs then they said it would ocme out 2005 then they cahnged it to SoG unfinished game. Now they say next year.... I know some beta testers and the places we can go in now are the most finished places there are in the game most of the other places are just land for miles with nothing in between.
