We are still facing massive hacker attacks. A new patch has been made this morning in order to limit their negative effects. The whole team is currently working on it - however there will still be some server access problems while we optimize it.

There is no more limit caps. Moreover, access to the game is based on order of arrival - there is no other selection.

Massive network attacks on SoG

During the last few days, we faced violent network attacks on our servers, thus greatly decreasing the game stability. People with bad intentions found how to exploit some properties of the network protocol, and managed to shut the front servers down (the only cluster servers that are directly connected to the Internet) almost instantly when the cluster is restarted.

These malevolent and pointless actions prevent all players from accessing the free service at their disposal.

These attacks are being analyzed, and we are regularly testing and implementing a series of fixes. We are investigating everything from the network protocol to the game engine. Our goal is to offer you a stable cluster, allowing reasonable sessions of gameplay time. The DnL system teams, our developers and the Microforte team wish to solve this problem as soon as possible.

But these fixes require a major part of our team, and it is slowing down the game tuning process. In order to make these tests a priority, prevent more attacks, and to bring SoG back online as soon as possible, we have decided to shut the servers down until Thursday, December 29th.

We apologise for this temporary shutdown, but this decision will help us to defend better against future hackers who prevent our members from enjoying SoG.

Power came back (that's why forums are available now) , but for some reasons, it seems that some routers didn't restart.

The bug regarding spell reloading time should now be solved. You should now just need to log off, and log back in, as the developers intervened directly on the server.

However, the server is going to shut down in about 30 minutes, for one hour, to apply a complementary patch which will solve, among others, some problems with the Quest character "Hector".

Thus, the server should reopen at about 1 PM GMT.

The server will be closed between 12:00 and 15:00 GMT to apply the last patch. This Patch will definitely resolve the “permabug” once and for all while fixing most of the characters blocked by this bug.

Devs having just found a bug that makes the server crash, they are rebooting it, hoping it will make the crashes stop :)

The datacenter is still not fully operational.

We suffered from 5 power cuts today, inducing a 3 hour long server shutdown. We are currently being supplied by the local power grid. This network is quite unstable and is not up to the standards we need to continue hosting the network.

Maintaining the server under these conditions would be too high of a risk for our equipment, which has already suffered from this situation

We can't provide you with any ETA regarding the reopening of the server yet; we will give you an update on the situation around 4.00 am GMT.

Here is an update about server status :
the computers hosting the server are currently being checked. However, due to an important risk of power outage at 6 PM GMT, the server won't be back online before 7 PM GMT.

Sorry, the problems with the server are still not resolved as you might have noticed. We have no ETA yet, but we will warn you as soon as we get more news.

UPDATE: The server should boot in an hour or two now, and be back about 40mins after it started booting.

Please be informed that the scheduled changeover to EDF will occur tomorrow 29th March at 02:00 am UTC, and not tonight 28th march 06:00 pm UTC as previously stated.

The switching will happen through the UPS batteries which would have been charging since last night. This will allow, in case of an issue, to switch back to the generators. The servers will be shutdown in order to avoid any risk of damaging the material.
The server will be closed at 1h40 am UTC.

Estimated downtime: 2 hours.
