Hi!!
I'd really like to see in game hunger for players!
I don't want to see my character fighting 24/7 without eating almost some bread!
Dunno if there will be a "Cooking" trade skill (it would be nice and useful),
but what about making various eatable items, also with a little bonus/malus in stats?
Or i.e. I'm on hunting; then a message tells me that I'm hungry, so I can kill a bird-rabbit-whatever, obtain some meat from the loot, cook it and then eat it!( maybe I could eat it raw as it is, but with a low dex malus...)
What do you think?

Gol, as usual, you're totally wrong. it's a great idea, not for hunger, but fro hp replenishment. this other mmorpg called runescaoe has a cooking skill and it was great. There was also a cooking guild which needed a high lvl to neter and get ingredients, etc. as well as many cooking clans. it worked out great. So golgotha..... when a problem comes along....... u must ZIP IT...... ZIP IT GOOD!!!!!!!!

I think you misunderstood rigmar. I think he meant to say that there should be no hunger so you have to satisfy the characters eating needs. almost always there is eating to replenish hp!

I would rather see food used to enhance your character's abilities. Say you go into town and purchase a chicken dinner... For four hours after eating that dinner your character gets bonuses to his/her atributes. Everquest had a system by which you had to constantly eat food. Not only was it not very realistic, it was a pain just because you had so much food in your inventory that you had little room for else. If you really want realism you may as well have your character rest for 5 - 10 days if they're seriously injured.. ( not meaning to be contrary just want to point out that not all aspects of a game need to be realistic )

Definetly don't want food to stave off hunger. Maybe for raising hp. Cooking skill sounds interesting though.

Would definately enjoy a cooking skill :)
And I like the idea about temporary stat-enhancing foods, that could be quite interesting trying to come up with different recipes to enhance certain skills or stats!

For the purpose of realism, I suppose it would be ok to have some degree of hunger and/or a requirement to eat, although I, too, feel that it kinda detracts from gameplay.

Nothing more annoying than having to leave to the scene of a good battle or interrupting your trading to run to the nearest shop because you are afraid of starving to death!!

As I mentioned, hunger for the sake of realism I guess would be ok, but along the same vein, then wouldn't they also need to implement a requirement for rest/sleep? I mean, how effective do you think you could be in combat or tradeskilling if you are too fatigued to raise a sword or too mentally exhausted to remember your recipes?

Hehe just a little food for thought :)

couldnt agree with you more Lastrius, the thinking up recipes and temporary stat enhancing foods would be good, but i don think for the sake of realism would be a good thing. i feel if you made a couple stat enhancign bread loafs, you could eat them right before you go on the battlefield.

Not sure about this one. I think I know you Golgotha! ; ) I recognize the signature from somewhere...

Good point Currin! Never really thought about that :)

Maybe stat-inducing foods could be made so that the affects do not stack, and last for short periods of time. Another thng that could be done is maybe instead of affecting stas, maybe they could be made to affect skills instead, for a very brief time, that would be valuable when it comes to tradeskilling, but wouldn't really make battle favorable towards those that can make the food items.

On the other hand hehe, if there were stat-raising foods, there could be quite a market for them :P

How bout food effects stamina? I was thinking it like this: Im out hunting animals and when i run i drain stamina. The stamina regenerates all the time but it will regenerate slower and slower if i don't get something to eat (or get some sleep). Now if my stamina is ok then i can kill animals twice as fast and effective than i could with no stamina.

NOTE: Stamina ALWAYS regenerates, food only decides how fast it will regenerate.

better No! to hunger. food should be used to replenish health. or say if u have 100% full on food, then your health will auto replenish after say every few minutes till u are 0% full on food then u stop healing? i hate to see the inventory full of meat.... :(

I think both the stat encahncign foods and the health rregenerating foods, are both good ideas.

lol your comments crack me up Rigmar.

NO NO NO PLEASE - NO EATING / HUNGER THING !!!!!!
I hate that in Helbreath. The early warning 'you are hungry' is, of course to be ignored until more urgent business is taken care of like 'buying pretty clothes/armour in shop' and 'seek and destroy enemy 'ares' or 'engage in a little cyber with my Ash' until the warnings become - 30 mins later 'you are starving to death' and damn by then my hp and sp and mp are all so low i cant cast 'create food' spell. And yes I actually did starve my character to death a couple of times.

But as for using food for added heath - yeah a great idea. In fact SHHHHHHHHHHhhhh don't tell them I told you this (come close i better whisper) I heard members of my guild talking about after battle with the enemy RIPPING OUT THEIR HEARTS AND LIVERS AND CUTTING OFF THEIR HEADS ( and i hate to think what else) and feasting on these disgusting things like barbarians. But of course I think I can tame them a bit and at least make a curry from these gory bits and dish them up curry and hey maybe booze after doing battle. Just think IT COULD BE YOU WE ARE EATING. Please be considerate and fatten yourselves up before you come to attack us. And i do think it should count for something. Perhaps we take on the strength of the victim - as it was believed in many cultures in the real world that this is what happens when you eat some part of your victim. What'ya think????
