Well, have you played Baldur's Gate I and/or II? One thing I liked a lot was the fact that when you entered a Inn or a market, you could ear lots of voices and rumors and the place seemed really full of people doing their buisnesss!!!Thought it was very immersive!!!
Now, is there something like that in DnL?

good call...sounds to me make a game wayyy more immersive. Maybe even while ur in town u hear to chatter of what actual players are saying. SO when u go into a large town like in a marketplace where there are somewhere around 200 ppl u actually hear what they are saying {like in a school cafateria}

Agreed sounds make a huge difference. Aome of the most immersive games take this into account. Take the Cradle level of Thief 3, the sounds pull you into the level and really make you feel creepy.

most mmorpgs have this. Ambient sound. i would imagine Dark and Light wouldnt forget it but stranger things have happened. if its not there at release i would expect it a few weeks after.

Yes, that kind of ambient sound is excellent, but I now like to see chat bubbles over people's heads as they are "speaking."
It is an adaptation from cartoons and comics, but I think the effect is very much like someone "speaking."
This may or may not be an option.

there was a plug-in for WoW made so that happened. you still got the text in you chat bar but it also put it in a bubble over someones head if they were close
