Hi!
One of the faults of every mmorpg I played (except UO) is in the running speed:
A character wearing a full plate armour runs at the same speed of a character wearing only a robe...
I think it will be reasonable if in DnL speed is influenced by the weight of the armour and/or carried items.Or a good idea is also the stamina factor: if I have a heavy equipment/inventory i can run only for a few seconds, then i'm obliged to stand and rest or to walk normally.
Obviously they could make a "running skill" that could make the difference in speed( but always with the weight check...)
I don't think it's difficult for Game Developers to make a thing like that...
What do you think?

Mounts are a good idea, now what im wondering is, will you be able to out run smaller monsters, or is it gona be like EQ and run to the ends of the earth for someone to save to yuo from the 50 mile per hour mouse.

aw and i was expecting to chase people with big giant axes and swords
now the only way for me to do that is ware no armour or they will run faster
or i coudl just ambush or use a bow
and speaking of mounting what about other players,im sure me and leyanne coudl put that to good use,
do you think it will get a r rating for being able to sleep with other charactors? probly not
but anarchy online had defined movements that kept me and her "entertained" for hours

hehe Here we go. I find you two again being a bit cheeky. mmm a lovely sight honey. You running naked through the forest with that great big huge thing ( umm I am referring to the sword for all of you who thought otherwise). The only way I could keep up with you is if you gave me a piggy back ride. I am sure that's what you were thinking about when you said mounting each other. ;) Actually if you have the advantage of riding a beast (not you honey kiss) then you should be expected to rest it and feed it etc. But the idea of weight/speed relationship is a good and fair idea.
What am I going to do about you two Tere and Snipes?

If u have a horse or something to ride you dont need to worry about runspeed, fatigue or weight.
There is mountable animals, for example a dodo (shown in video) which u can ride to increase speed and also carries items if u run out of storage space

This stuff works great in UO. If you carry more then u'll get fatuqgued faster, even on a horse.

Absolutely. Hope there is some speed differences between armour clad and non armour, and between beasts' speed.
If people are running about naked -could end up like Benny Hill ! haha

lol yeah... yeah i hope the speed thing with weight gets set in and different animals/beasts should have different speeds

yup. But there should also be pack animals, which can carry a lot of stuff without getting fatigued fast.

I think fatigue is a pain in the ass, yes it adds to the reality of the game but overall a simple slowdown base on your wieght to strength or stamina ratio makes more sense. For example, I know yall played Diablo II and that stamina bar was so gay. I just want to play and get to where I want to go. I can understand having to set to auto-run and go grab a burger but I dont want to have to come back and see my dude passed out with a fairey poking his balls trying to wake him up. F that. Oh yea Pack animals are def a dank idea, but really cmon whose ready to ride some damn drgons!!!!!

Dont forget the laws of physics can be negated with magic. There could be enchantments that allow heavy armor to be as light as air. Tho id hate to be the poor sap to collect the materials like zephyrs essence and such needed to do it. Oh and Leyanne do you happen to have ever played Everquest? Im getting the feeling i know you from somewhere...

I hope that armor doesnt make a difference in running speed and such things.
Would be awful if a highlvl character with a big armor is not able to catch a low lvl character who is only running in his underpants :)

Yea well sed santa if there was a low level verses a high lvl, the low level cud run circles round the high lvl and after a while cud maybe do sum damage so that would suck, but anyway i hav heard that every1 runs the same depenant on lvl, because a high lvl has more strength so heavy armor would be the same as a low lvl naked with no armor =)

You're all forgetting stats. Someone with high strength should be able to carry such a burden and run at a decent pace, and possibly keep up with someone wearing only a robe. If you get over-burdened then you will go slower, it's a common thing (that is if the devs include it, and not just limit how much the character can hold based on whatever). Though I do agree, maybe they could put something in that would relate armor/weight to run speed.
Exhaustion when running is not cool, in my opinion. As stated above, it really distracts you from the game. It seems like running exhaustion is something realistic that can be sacrificed for the sake of fun gameplay. ;)

that is a good point cos some people forget about the player evolution

Again, pack sanimals dont have stats in most games, but it will be cool if they had some in DnL.
Usually other pets stats rise when player stats rise.

Think how huge the game world is.
Not nice to wear your gear (plate armor big sword and a shield) and walk through the whole world with the speed of a turtle.

lol yeah but it adds to reality + if your going to wander the earth there probably some magic armour that is light...
