yep, its up and working.
btw its not really playable atm (like dnl? :))

the emu isn'T really up , they went open source and now everybody who is into it can go on modding until the emu is really ready !
the hungarian swg fans already started to check it, not so bad ;) a usual pc for games can run the server and handle the clients (tested it with around 30 ppl) without any problems. i going to install it onto a ibm server ;)
in the new build (update with svn) we are able to use gm commands, spatial is working.
its still in beta status but not so far to a final product ;)

our server cluster will be up for everyone soon, its name will be new starsider or darjani, you will be able to access it at newstarsider.com OR darjani.com.
dont forget its still in beta status, maybe 6 month later it will not just a beta (its still empty).

hehe , cool ! I just hope that a lot of people from old SWG will come to play the emu . i will join the new eu-chim server as soon as they open gates :D ...

Its going to be patched up to pub 12, which I do believe includes the village grind for jedi, not the hologrind? I'd much rather have a pre 9 setup, but all bitching aside, I will definatly play the emu as long as its pre NGE!

i'm pretty sure server admins can choose between village and hologrind , here (http://www.swgemu-datapack.com/index.php/Galactic_Server_List)
is a list of registered servers ;)

yep and you can mix them or add new things. a lot of servers will run by GiZmo's system.

dont forget its still in beta status! our site is under development, mostly in hungarian (there will be an english and a hungarian section, important things are available in english now (how to set up the client, etc))

I have been in the one on swgemu.eu and it seems ok.
Has the nice old look and feel of the original. The EMU gets patched a lot.

oh man , i just can'T wait , i mean i am pretty sure it will take at least another 4-6 months until the EMU will be complete , but when i got to one of thoses test servers i was like "YEHAAA" old school SWG just roxx ! and once more i just can't understand how SOE could have fuck'ed it up like they did..... :whistle:

1. its not illegal, you still have to buy the swg client and you pay a monthly sub to store data on their database. The Emu servers are just that, big databases. There are plenty of emu server around for a whole host of games. SWG will now be another.

soe will not slam us, you know there are eq1, eq2, etc emus and they never ever slammed anyone :P
oh and yeah, as Gbrain said its not illegal. you know its an emulation (like wine (windows emulator)), not reverse engineered app.
btw playing without a subscription at soe's side is illegal, you were right at this point. we cant check our players real subscriptions BUT we dont let them to download the data files, we just said: buy a starter kit, patch it with launcher and now you are able to use swgemu if you would.

I suggest you all go read up on copyright law dealing with software and network infrastructure for these kind of games.
And plenty of emu servers get legal notices to cease and desist. Most people just re-open their emu under a different name hoping that the games co. doesnt come looking again.
There is also a huge reason all this illegal activity tends to be hosted in asian countries.
Like I said, why the mods allow this thread to be here and I hope soe slams you all.

And I suggest you reread the laws and talk to your lawyer. No emulator was shut down so far, because the law isn't that joke everywhere, as it's in the US.

Myself and a few friends are developing another MMO, but I'm basing the skill trees kind of off of the SWG one, at least the look of them anyway.
I hope it goes well. If there is ever a server that more than a few can connect to, I'd love to come in and take a look around :)

you will love our server, our goal is 3.5k player at the same time ;) atm we are using a semi-dedicated server but when its need a better server we will host it on a dedicated server cluster. ;)

Chimaera one does tend to be up and down at moment, ok more down but i have managed to get on the test server. It looks like the old pre-cu days with the old icons, hud and layout.
Looks like a large part of the community is returning to this server as well that left when the CU hit.

nope they don'T want to finish a CU emu as it seems now...but there's going to happen something on the main emu side today or tomorrow :D
