If there were effects it would probally be something lik: Sunny; maybe you still see the yellow spot after you look at the sun. Rain; may make player sluggish and slower. something like that, but i seriously dout it. I do not think the developers will waste time on somthing like that. The only thing affected in weather is probally your feild of vision (how far you can see).
well atleast there is some effect to the player! I don'r see how weather is useull is it's just there for graphics and has no use!
hmm. Weathe to wash the field after a large battle. oh the possibilities.

Weather is to improve the realistic aspect mainly , lets face it a world where the weather is always good must be booooooooooring .
Plus you can think of ways how weather can affect characters ...
I was thinking mainly about Stealth and camouflage , lets face it a green troll is easily spotted in the snow but much harder on a rainy day in a field oh high vegetation ..
Maybe it could affect the flying world too , i know dragons are really good but it must be harder for them in strong winds and with snow :exclam:
man i can't wait to enjoy a ride on a dragon!

Forget the dragon, I want to fly by myself!
But about the topic... Weather is a VERY important aspect of the game, not so much on how it effects the characters, but more in a visual sense. I know past MMORPGs have only had either a little rain or a lot... I would like to see it range from a drizzle all the way to a gale

thatd be sweet. just imagine how it could work! RANGED WEAPONS! it should effect ranged weapons like if u are shooting a bow with 40 MPH wind you honestly think its gonna be easy to hit ure target????? NO u would miss alot unless u compensate alot for the wind and shtuff like that
so it should effect ranged weapons and spells a bit and maybe some other stuff to
I don;t get ho weather would affect spells...

What if it was a really windy day and your spell components kept getting blow out of your hands... .. . It could happen.
Please visualize really impressive graphic below.. . perhaps a character sketch...

Leathersoup...u have too much free time......
it still answers my question and makes sense. but i guess they can make it a higher failure rate if it's raining.

Maybe it could be a way to separate elite archers to others that occasionally use a bow ...For example a Blademaster or Hero in DAOC that used it to pull mobs..

Some of the weather aspect should be that you leave footprints in the snow if its snowy and when you walk indoors after youve been out in the rain theyre could be footprints of mud.

I think what Grovslat said would be really cool if used right. You could track things over large distances (assuming the weather does not erase the tracks). Or even there could be a whole set of skills to make false tracks or cover your own.

Also if it rains items made out of metal could rust and lose some of its abilities/strengts/bonuses.
And you have to repair/polish it to get it back to normal?
never thought weather could be so intresting.

OOOO i LOVE weather changes, and it HAS to work in seasons
i picture myself in white rags covered head to toe, sneaking up quietly on unexpecting prey (probly soem dark ogre type) with a bow in my hand and a bastard sword on my back, kreeping up while the freezing snow aroudn me is washed aroudn with light to medium winds and howls like a distant wolf in the night
man i have to kill somethign soon, im dying to hunt people
if your dark side, expect to see me in the summer, coz come winter time you will only see me when its too late
of corse my gf and i coudl get a but busy in the spring time with all those beautiful rolling hills and flower feilds
im also lookign forward to very dark clouds and hailing rain
and i think i talk to much.....

I m thinking ill take mine on a boat trip towards the rising sun ! No tides on that day please !!!
"The 3D engine also manages the atmospheric effects (snow, rain, wind etc…) and spatial conjunctions."
There will be weather changes and of course if there will be snow.. it will be white so the green troll is spotted easier..
that's the answer i was looking for. simple and clean.

I was just thinking about something, while I was reading about the weather; How will the two moons affect the world in matter of gravitation, and tidalwaves in the sea? (if it's at all important)... anyone got an idea?

Hey thats not a bad idea...Maybe depending on the position on the moons, have the water come up higher on the beach or something?? Now THAT would be cool....BTW all you members of Divinitus, i just sent in an application...PLEASE!! accept me!! :exclam: But anyways, i like the idea about it affecting ranged weapons....i mean, i enjoy and instruct archery in real life, and when its raining, it (a) descreases your depth perception (how far do i pull back?) (b) messes up your string (wax on the string gets all funky) (c) makes the grip on the arrow harder...etc, etc. I could go on forever. And, I mean c'mon, who wouldn't wanna see a character slip and drop his spear in mid throw? Landing face first into some mud? LOL! Hey, there's another idea...mud. Effecting your balance, how fast you can run...aight i'll shuttup now ;)

We know we will have 4 seasons and snow rain and the like - we know we will have the transitions from day to night. But you guys have some great ideas on how this could effect play.
Aw I so look forward to that stroll in spring to fields of flowers on mountain tops Sniper. So romantic.
Or that large storm that leaves you clinging to a tree that blows away in the great winds, the lightning destroying everything, the thunder so loud and constant all you hear is the a boom before your eardrums pop. The rain so heavy you're drenched, you cant see 2 feet in front of you because of it. So exhilirating.

SIMPLE PPL!!
"How would weather effect spells?" - Thinks about it!
Spells > Elements > Types
E.G. You try and launch a ball of fire at your opponent on a raining day...
the rain would extinguish or at least weaken the spell.
Using water spells during rain...Damage Bonus!
Ice effects could also be affected in the same way.
Wow, together we are really thinking of some kik *** ideas here.
Maybe we should make the game :) lol, just an idea *hint hint* ;)
