View Full Version : Esperanto; Great Way To Communicate In DnL

Hi all,
I was thinking (Actually my cousins idea since he is studying Esperanto.)
With people playing DnL from all over the world on 1 server, and politics playing such an important role, what could be very helpfull is a language that is easily learnable by everyone. Esperanto is a fully developed, living language that was invented 120 years ago to facilitate international communication. It is still used today by people from all over the world who have conversations through internet chat and e-mail, who would otherwise not be able to speak to each other because they lack a common tongue.

Esperanto is much easier to learn than the world's major languages, and it has an incredibly regular grammar and easy to learn vocabulary. While most languages have hundreds upon hundreds of verb forms, Esperanto has only six. Period. The words are based on roots from Latin, Greek, German, English, and other European languages, and speakers of those languages often find many similarities to their own no matter which tongue they speak. An Esperanto speaker can also multiply their vocabulary using a simple system of affixes and suffixes that change the meaning of a root word.

For more information and to learn the language quickly over the net, visit http://www.lernu.net or http://www.esperanto.net.

Perhaps we can form an Esperanto Guild. Of course this would not take you away from your current guild. It is just a way of us all knowing who speaks Esperanto so we can start getting together and possibly form alliances and such for when the game comes out. As I understand it this is in line with DnL's ideas on guilds anyway, so this is my suggestion and offer.
Of course there would be a "Dark" and a "Light" Esperanto Guild ingame and of course we would be enemies ("Light" myself) but here again as I understand it there will be times; trading, crafting, etc. when cooperation between "Dark" and "Light" will be necessary and benificial.
I myself do not speak Esperanto yet but have decided to begin learning it. So if anyone is fluent and there is interest in this idea please step up to the plate, and perhaps you can lead this guild.
Thx for consideration, hope to see you all ingame A.S.A.P.!!!

Please translate this into your language if there is interest. ~Reyajh

Esperanto, bonega metodo por komuniki en DnL

Saluton Cxiuj,

Do, se iu ajn estas flua kaj estas interesigxo pri cxi tiu ideo, bonvolu antauxpasxi kaj eble vi povas konduki cxi tiun gildon.

Dankon pro via konsidero, kaj mi esperas vidi vin cxiuj enlude kiel baldaux tiel eblas!!!

~Reyajh

Greetings Reyajh. :D

It´s a nice idea, but i guess that English is claiming that role, actually, and has become that "common language" . On the other hand, it would be difficult for most people in DnL to be fluent enough to speak Esperanto on a consistent basis, since we would only practice it while playing the game.

Regards and good luck.

--------------------

Greetings, :)
You are probably both correct. I will wait until the weekends over to make a final assessment.
Perhaps we can still meet up ingame and work together using English or Esperanto (I will add you both to friends list when game goes gold and we can talk more then; ingame.) As I understand guilds in DnL, they will be great tools enabling people with similar interests to come together. Of course no one would have to leave their main guild to join us. It would mearly be an additional option to enhance gameplay. And we still don't know but there may be people who from other countries, besides those represented here in these forums, will play DnL and not speak english but maybe only their native tongue and Esperanto. This will enable us to get together for fun, alliances, crafting, sieges? Who knows.
Thx, for your consideration and I look forward to meeting anyone else who may be interested. ;)

~Cheers, Reyajh
