To be honest I would seriously think about upgrading your processor to an Athlon XP+ or a P4 also upgrade the graphics card to a geforce4 ti , if you checkout the latest mmorpgs up and running atm and see what the system specs for them are and then shoot for a system a good deal higher than that then you will probably have a good system to run DnL on :)

· Will I have to possess a high end computer to run DnL?
In a general manner, yes to get all the rendering features running. The Dnl engine is scalable thanks to its automatic performance control system and display options. Today, we still optimize the engine in order to give you guys the best minimum system requirements. We can guaranty you we will never oblige you to upgrade your configuration.

Ego - I was wondering about the computer specs that are required and recommend to play the Dark and Light?
The beta is requiering a Geforce 3 minimum with a 1 Ghz processor. This only to get the same screen shot quality that you can look at on our web site.
Thats all we know for now ;)

Don't worry a brand new computer can't run it anyway.

Yes, it most certainly can. I have no lag and will be making a video soon to show that the game plays smoothe. I'm sorry to hear others are having problems, but my internet connection is nothing special and I get 25 fps with graphics on full. Besides, there's simply no way to compare the performance less than a week into the free version to what we'll experience when the real game launches. With that said though, I don't think you're experience will be positive with your computer, it's just too outdated for a MMO imo. I tried SWG with an athlon 1700 and Geforce2 and 1/2 a gb of ram before I built a new comp and it was almost unplayable. It played ok with 1 gig of ram, though. The reason I mention SWG is because even with the machine I have now, this game plays smoother than SWG did.

The fastest sata hard drive comes in 2 sizes...37.4 gb and 74 gb. I have the 37.4 gb Raptor and have AOE3,Dungeon Siege2,Star Wars Galaxies,Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds, Lord of the Rings, and probably 3 or 4 other games and still have room on my hard drive. If you're thinking that DnL will take up 40 gb, you're nuts. There's no video game even in production that takes up 10 gb. Did you simply read his specs wrong or something?

Like I said, no game takes 10 gb. Your folder is counting custom maps and junk that isn't even sponsored by the manufacturer.

Raid 1 doesn't offer the performance of RAID 0. If it were me, I'd get 2 of the 74 gb Raptors and configure a RAID 0 array. The 74 gb Raptors use fluid bearings and have a faster access and seek time than the smaller version.
