Lightbulb Does sunlight = death to Vampires?

I'm not sure if this has been asked or if it is nessisary to even be debated, but i think if not already implamented that this should be the case!

If a characher choses the path to Vampirism there should be some kind of weakness to sun(light), since this would make gameplay more realistic with legand. Maybe not instant death if caught by an early morning sunrise while searching for a treasure late through the night, but more on the lines of a power loss. A sudden loss of statpoints when in the sun, and perhaps a sudden then slowly diminishing mana drain.

I'm prety new to DnL but overall the concept of the game is intreging and i look forward to playing. When i heard of the Vampirism i couldn't help but to think of this question.

Shadowknight and Paladin, Clerk and Necromancer
The vampirism (ability to bite another character in order to make a vampire of it) will be one of the three axes of competences of the Shadow Knight, though they do not represent the only class with being able "to generate" vampires. A character bitten by a Shadow Knight will be condemned to damnation and will change gradually into vampire. Once generated, a vampire must nourish blood and loses the ability to move in full light without suffering damage (unless evolving/moving exclusively in the "dead zones" of Ganareth).

Characters infected by a Shadow Knight however, are not condemned to eternal damnation. Certain classes (clerics, undoubtedly) will have the skill to extract the evil from their hearts. Moreover, on a battle field, Paladins and 'black Chevalier(?)'will devote themselves to a fight without mercy: the first can help their allies to save their heart (to slow down the death of a companion fallen to the combat, for example or to support their resurrection) whereas the seconds get busy to accelerate the death of their victims..

I got this info from this Link: http://ap.ofganareth.com/forum/inde...=ST&f=22&t=246&

Hope that answer your question.

I think the damages due to sunlight won't apply on SK, even if they choose to develop their vampirism abilities. I remember something like that, but I don't find the link

I'm curious about who decides what is "real" or not for something that is nothing but fiction. There are no "real" vampires, so anyone can make them into whatever they want.

I would have thought a nice way to do the vampirism thing would be weakening during daytime hours, which would have to be circumvented by way of some kind of shroud(s) - ie: clothing equipment, or (blatantly ripping off blade terms) by investing skill points or whatever into "Daywalking".

Having nice bonuses at night time would be excellent, however. I tried to implement this sort of thing in NWN once but it gets damned complicated (and CPU time is needed for checks).

Maybe we should take the Osbournes for a walk in the park and see what happens...

Ehum, I'd like to see that
#1: Shadow Knights can not turn into vampires if it's too light (far-fetched, maybe, but you never know).
#2: If the Shadow Knight is already in Vampire-form when the Light comes, he/she becomes weakened.

Should Light vampires shun darkness?
Supreme Gimpage, mayhaps, but Light Shadow Knights should be gimped in my opinion.

Hey, I just realised: Vampire rhymes with campfire!

Dumb newbie question but aren't shadowknights limited to the Dark side? If so then there wouldn't be a "Light" shadowknight.

Light side can have shadowknights, but they might be limited on both sides by what race you are.

Well I understand the concept actually but I do believe I have read somewhere that there will be class/race restrictions like I have read that Dark Elves and half-orc are all on the side of Dark while Braves are on the side of Light. Also I think the more exact term was that Light or Dark did not "Necessarily" mean Good and Evil, not that there weren't undertones of Evil with Dark and Good with Light Every article I have read points directly to those undertones existing at least from a standpoint of Dark leaning toward what some would consider more Evil aspects of Magic and such and the opposite being true of Light.

One point I will make is that I don't think there is enough released information to make a blanket statment either way but I think if you really read up on things that most point to the undertones I am refering to.

With that being said, I will be competely suprised if there end up being Light Necromancers and Shadowknights, just as I will be completely surprised if they allow Dark Paladins.

Not flaming, just stating my belief on what the end state of things will be at release.

The devs have said that all classes are ompatible with each alignment, and since I believe humans (and maybe half-elves) can have just about any class, we're bound to see dark and light everythings. I just hope they let us mix all races and classes soon.
I personally don't really see the trouble with Dark Paladins. Paladins = Warriors with a cause, often affiliated with a temple or religion, as far as I'm concerned.

After reading the Ganheptameron, I daresay the Light side is the Fascist side of Dark and Light.

Dark and Ligth sides may only be in respect to the moons, but in doing so they are linked with the times of day. Light side obviously being day time while Dark is linked with night. Vampires may not exist in reality, but lore of vampires has gone back a VERY long time. DnD, which Im pretty sure can be acredited to just about any MMO in existance, has piles of lore to do with Vampires, and likewise so do many old movies. Vampires are SENSITIVE to sunlight, which would make Vamperic Light-Side (day time?) characters a little out of place...

although I suppose heavy forest areas may be able to shed little enough sunligth that a vamperic being could survive relatively well.

Are you sure? I mean, white people are more sensetive tot he Sun's UV-rays than black people, giving them somewhat of a penalty during the daytime.

And yet, every culture of the world through-out history has had a creature like the vampire, but with minor differences, yet these peoples were geographically seperated and some did not exist during the same time.

People also say that magic never existed, but I can point to a popular literary reference that millions have read and believe to be true that states that magic did exist. It is after all, the greatest story ever told.
