Because we all want to communicate ingame as well as possible between players speaking different languages,

I'd like to create the dictionary of DnL Jargon.

Hopefully someone can help with other languages, other than French and English. Looks good though, for those two languages, maybe I'll learn some French.

very informative post, if you have things like that to say just go stand in front of the mirror and say them, this is a post about language and translationfor helping the community, nobody cares what you think, if you dont find it neccesary dont help, bot dont bash the players who take the initaitive for doing soemthing pretty big like this
(and euhm i made a suggestion in anothe rthread, about adding ingame dictionairies, so if you had read some posts befor ecoming here you would know that)

and why do we need a thing to tell us how to speak?

* SrWolf, please keep in mind that although some of you are old hands w/ this stuff - there will always be NOOBs who do have an interest in learning it.
- Some of us even have interest in picking up a few words of other languages DNL_OUTSIDER (hmm, did I spell that right?)

* Anyhow, thank you and nice job so far Calcineur. Rest assured there will be at least one making use of your work.

What a cool project, I've learnt a couple of new phrases from that. I am sure French, Germans and Spaniards have similar phrases of their own, it would be good to have those in there as well. Congrats on producing an interesting and useful utility, I for one will add it to my bookmarks and check back on your progress...

I'm glad that there are sensible peeps here to make up for silly twats like DNL_INSIDE. DNL_INSIDE really showed us who's the shmuck around here with his post.
I'd love to learn a phrase or to in spanish, or mandoneise (spelling? lol ) if i got the chance.

Anyways nice idea. And Guan Wolf, as said not everyone is an old wolf in the MMO scene and don't know all the "lingo" that comes with it. ^^

A suggestion for a later date:
A search capability with a language selection to be able to just type in "FOP" and it shoots to the listing of "FOP: Full of Power - A casters has medded his power back to full."

Reason is, in game, you might not always have time to look through (eventually) such a large list of acronyms and abbreviations.

Oh, and could ZzZzZ be shortened to Zz? Typing ZzZzZ seems combersome and slow.

(((Slightly altered conversation, and I could go make another thread if you would rather me, so just let me know, and I'll edit this post out and make another, but wouldn't it be neat (as in, not required but fun for the hell of it) to make a Language of Ganareth like Tolkein had done for his books?)))

Are you referring to Mandarin, which is a dialect of Chinese? People think of it as a language mostly because it's the dialect most commonly learned by Americans, or so I've seen. It's the same with Spanish and Castillian (Castellano, if I'm not mistaken).

I like this idea... I might help out with the Spanish version, should I get the time...

Well, our official language is the Spanish language (Español) but you can also say Castillian(Yeah, castellano ) If you are talking about any other language talked in Spain. Because we´ve a couple different languages, and a lot of dialects. (languages as Euskera [vasco] or catalán, doesn´t know hoy to say it in english)
But this is not a clear thing, and there are a lot of different points of view, of what is a language or what is a dialect. The spaniard countryes of south america speak spanish too, but it´s quite different from spanish one. But I don´t know a lot about all the sud-american spanish dialects.

Of course, if I get some time, I´ll help with the spanish side.

We, in the southern US, have a dialect that many might think is it's own language also.

yeah, i'm also working on a similar listing on DnLwiki, which will be released when i think there is enough info in it as a base. Probably 2 weeks or sooner if certain guildies helped ut
